Local History

Ashbourne Historical Centre

Ashbourne Historical Centre is situated in Ashbourne Town Hall.

We have ever changing exhibits showcasing our illustrious history. We also stock a selection of leaflets on Ashbourne and the surrounding area, and friendly local knowledge is always on tap.

We also have an ASHBOURNE & DISTRICT REFERENCE LIBRARY, where long out of print publications can be viewed by the public.

We are always keen to receive new artefacts for display which will be cared for and placed in lockable cabinets. Please contact the Curator on our contacts page and arrange a friendly meeting.

THE HISTORICAL CENTRE OPENING HOURS:

Ashbourne Heritage Society

Ashbourne Heritage Society aims to promote, research, publicise any aspect of the history and heritage of Ashbourne and the surrounding area. We see heritage as a much wider subject than just local history.

Post-Covid, the meetings (from September to June) will now take place on the fourth Friday of the month at the Elim Church, Waterside Park, Ashbourne DE6 1DG, between 2.00pm and 4.00pm; talks will begin at 2.30pm. The June meeting will be the AGM and may be held at a different location (TBA). The September meeting may be replaced by a visit.

They also organise visits and walks during the year.

Lectures are free for members and £5.00 (payable on the door) for non-members
