Ashbourne Royal Shrovetide
The game of Royal Shrovetide is played annually on Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday, the origins of the game have been lost in the mist of time, and is played between the "Up'ards and The Down'ards" the goals are at Sturston and Clifton and play is between 2.00pm and 10.00pm
